Dr Gatineau is a passionate veterinary specialist surgeon who has been involved for several years in surgical training for graduate veterinarians and students in Quebec.

DMV, IPSAV, MSc, Diplomate ACVS-ECVS & ACVSMR

Dr Gatineau obtained his veterinary diploma from the National Veterinary School of Toulouse (France) in 2006. He then did an Advanced Internship in Applied Veterinary Sciences (IPSAV) in small animal at the Montreal Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. He then completed a surgical internship and directly started an ACVS-ECVS (American College of Veterinary Surgeons and European College of Veterinary Surgeons) residency at the DMV Center in Montreal as well as a Master in clinical sciences at the Montreal University on orthopedic implants. He successfully passed his board exams in 2011 in his first attempt and he is an ACVS and ECVS Diplomate since. He also passed the board exams of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (ACVSMR) in 2013 in his first attempt, which allowed him to develop his expertise in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation and sports medicine in dogs. To date, he is the only specialized surgeon in this field and a graduate of the ACVSMR in Quebec.

Dr Gatineau, surgical specialist, has the expertise to perform many orthopedic surgeries (TPLO, complex fractures, arthroscopy, Biomedtrix and Kyon total hip
replacement, TPO, SHO, correction of angular deformity…) as neurosurgeries (intracranial tumor, herniated disc, vertebral fracture…) and soft tissue (oncology, cardiac, pulmonary, endocrine, digestive and urinary). He favors a minimal invasive approach (laparoscopy and thoracoscopy surgeries) particular expertise that he has developed in order to promote a faster recovery with better comfort for his patients.

Dr Gatineau is the author of numerous scientific publications in international veterinary journals on TPLO surgery, hip dysplasia and minimally invasive surgery. He is also a reviewer for several international journals to ensure the quality of published scientific articles. He actively and regularly collaborates on various research projects in veterinary medicine and participates in the continuing education of veterinarians and technicians in Quebec by giving lectures and labs. He has also lectured in Europe and Canada. At the DMV Center, he supervises and participates in the training of specialized and general interns, students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and residents in surgery.

Dr Gatineau performs specialized surgeries and offers his consultation and surgical services at the DMV-Montreal.
